Grzegorz Przemyk, 19 years old 

A recent graduate of the 17th Andrzej Frycz-Modrzewski Secondary School in Warsaw, the son of Barbara Sadowska – a poet, activist of the Primate's Committee for Assistance for Imprisoned Persons and their Families. On May 12, 1983, he was detained in the Old Town by militiamen and brutally beaten at the militia station at Jezuicka Street. "Beat him up so as to leave no traces" – the on-duty officer instructed. He died on May 14, 1983 as a result of internal injuries suffered. In 1984, a trial was arranged, with the medical orderlies from the ambulance that took Grzegorz to the hospital that is accused of the beating. A fifth trial of a militiaman accused of committing the crime is pending - the four previous trials have always ended in his acquittal.
